Margarita Island

Margarita Island
Margarita Island – this is a popular vacation enclave, located less than 20 minutes from the Venezuelan mainland, and over 100 miles from Caracas. There are also ferry departure points for Margarita Island from the towns of Puerta la Cruz and Cumana, both of which are several hours east of Caracas on the northern coast of Venezuela.
Margarita Island attracts a lot of fellow Venezuelan tourists (especially during the Christmas and Easter holiday periods and the Summer), as well as visitors from other parts of the Caribbean. There is something for everybody at Margarita: seaside activities, historic sites like La Galera (a Spanish colonial fort) and shopping (Centro Comercial Sambil).
