Galería de Arte Nacional / GAN (Av. Sur 17, b/w Av. Bolivar and Av. México, Caracas) – located a couple of blocks west of the Ateneo de Caracas cultural center (within the Plaza Morelos district), the is the city’s national art gallery (founded in 1976). Various works of art are displayed here (over 4,000 pieces – from plastic artworks to classical oil paintings from previous times). Within the same building, the Museo de Bellas Artes (which displays mainly works from Venezuelan artists) is located here, too. Admission: free. Hours: 9 am – 5 pm (Tuesday – Friday), 10 am – 5 pm (Saturday – Monday).
